What is Restylane®?

How does Restylane® work?

Restylane® is a crystal clear gel that is injected into the skin (or for some treatments just under) in small amounts to restore volume and structure. It is based on hyaluronic acid, similar to the body's own hyaluronic acid. The hyaluronic acid in Restylane® is non-animal which means that no skin tests are needed and that there is a minimal risk of allergic or hypersensitive reactions.

What are the benefits of Restylane® beauty treatment?
The results of a treatment with Restylane® are long-lasting, without being permanent, giving you the freedom of choice to maintain the effect. A treatment with Restylane® will generally last 6-12 months, and with only one re-treatment the effect has in a recent clinical study been shown to last up to 18 months. To maintain the results in the lips, a re-treatment is usually needed within 6 months.

The effect and safety of Restylane beauty products have also been proven in numerous clinical studies.

What should I expect before treatment?
Come to your consultation prepared. Be honest with yourself about your wishes and questions. You will learn how Restylane products can be safely used to suit your wishes, and you will be asked about your medical history. When you leave your consultation you should feel well informed about Restylane, and you should know what results to expect.

What should I expect during treatment?
Together with your physician you decide which Restylane product is suitable for your needs. Before treatment, the practitioner will discuss pain relief with you. As every person has different preferences and sensitivity, Restylane is available both with and without integrated pain-relief. Depending on which area you will have treated you will also have a choice of other anesthesia, such as anesthetic cream, dental block or ice.

A treatment with Restylane only takes about 15-30 minutes. It is performed by injecting Restylane through a fine needle into your skin (or for some treatments just under) to fill wrinkles or add volume, shape your face or lips or rejuvenate your skin.

What should I expect after treatment?
After treatment you will receive post-treatment guidelines. It is normal to experience some post-treatment discomfort, such as redness, swelling, pain, itching, bruising or tenderness at the treatment site This typically subsides after a few days, up to one to two weeks. Following treatment, there is sometimes a need for a touch-up treatment to achieve an optimal result. Your Next Restylane Treatment

As Restylane is naturally biodegraded, you will eventually need to repeat the treatment to maintain the result. Return visits are typically made after 6-12 months for wrinkles and within 6 months for lips. For skin rejuvenation with Restylane Vital a typical treatment program is made up of three treatment sessions with 2-4 weeks apart and then repeat treatments every 4 to 6 months.

What is Perllane®?

Just like Restylane, Perlane adds volume and fullness to the skin to correct moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds, such as the lines from your nose to the corners of your mouth (nasolabial folds).

Like Restylane, Perlane is a clear gel formulation of hyaluronic acid that is specifically formulated to add fullness like your body’s own hyaluronic acid.

What makes Perlane different is the average size of the particles and the depth of injection. On average, the gel particles in Perlane are larger than those in Restylane, which makes Perlane a good choice for wrinkles that benefit from a deeper injection into the skin.

In three clinical studies of 150 patients each, on average 70% of patients maintained improvement for six months after just one Perlane treatment.
